Why FAQs matter for search and AI
Searchers ask questions, and Google's People Also Ask boxes, AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity all look for pages that answer them directly. A question as a heading with a two- or three-sentence answer underneath is the easiest format for them to find and quote.
FAQs also convert. They answer doubts at the moment a visitor is deciding, instead of in a support email a day later.
What makes a good FAQ answer
Answer in the first sentence, then add one or two lines of detail. Use the customer's words, not internal jargon, and keep each answer about one thing.
If your content doesn't contain the answer, the generator lists the question separately instead of guessing. Those gaps are often the reason visitors leave.
About FAQ schema
FAQPage structured data marks up questions and answers in a format machines read reliably. Google now shows FAQ rich results mainly for well-known government and health sites, but the markup still helps search and AI engines understand the page. The questions must appear on the page itself.
