What makes a product description sell
Shoppers don't buy features, they buy what the features do for them. A good description turns 'cold-pressed' into 'keeps the nutrients heat would destroy', speaks to one buyer and answers their doubts before they reach the reviews.
Lead with the main benefit, keep paragraphs short, put the specs in bullets and finish with what's in the box or how to use it.
Writing for search as well as shoppers
Each product needs its own description. Copying the manufacturer's text creates duplicate content that ranks poorly. Use the words customers search for in the title, first sentence and image alt text, and write a unique meta description for every product.
Stay accurate
Claims about health, results or certifications need to be true and provable, and in many categories they are regulated. The writer only uses facts you provide and leaves a [placeholder] where real proof would help.
